How can we help stop deadly drug-resistant infections spreading? Debt relief | Glenda Gray
Briefly

By 2050, deaths due to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) could rise by about 70%, leading to 39 million direct deaths and 169 million associated deaths globally.
The recent commitment of $100m from governments is a positive step, but it is vastly insufficient compared to the $63bn needed annually to combat antimicrobial resistance.
No single donor or organization can adequately address the require investment in health systems; sovereign governments must take the lead in funding the fight against AMR.
Debt relief in the early 2000s was crucial in addressing HIV/Aids; a similar approach is necessary now, especially for low- and middle-income countries facing high debt.
