HMS Wellington, the last dedicated Battle of the Atlantic convoy escort in the UK, will reopen to the public following a £225,000 grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Since April 2023, the Wellington Trust has been focused on revitalizing the ship and establishing a sustainable business model after financial issues forced closure earlier this year. The restoration aims to enhance public access and share the unique history of HMS Wellington, ensuring its legacy as an important part of maritime history continues for future generations.
