Two high-speed trains derailed near Adamuz in Córdoba province after the Iryo 6189 Malaga-to-Madrid train left Malaga. The Iryo train left the track and crashed onto the adjacent track, causing the Madrid-to-Huelva train on that track to derail as well. State broadcaster reports indicate seven fatalities and roughly 100 injured, 25 seriously, with an unknown number of passengers among the injured. Adif suspended all rail services between Madrid and Andalucia and emergency services halted rail traffic, dispatching ambulances and support vehicles to the scene. Images show a rear carriage on its side and evacuated passengers sitting beside it.
