A hearing date has been fixed for Jozef Puska's appeal against his conviction for the murder of schoolteacher Ashling Murphy. Puska killed Ms Murphy, aged 23, on January 12, 2022, by repeatedly stabbing her in the neck after attacking her while she exercised. The assault took place along the canal towpath outside Tullamore in County Offaly. Ms Murphy was a schoolteacher and the attack was fatal. Following a criminal trial Puska was convicted of murder. He is currently serving a life sentence. The appeal will review aspects of the conviction and the sentence imposed.
