HDMI 2.2 will be announced next month - and it may require a new cable
Briefly

The HDMI Forum announced a new specification release on January 6th, aiming to enable higher resolutions and refresh rates, supported by a new cable.
HDMI 2.1, introduced in 2017, supports up to 48Gbps bandwidth, 120Hz variable refresh rates, and resolutions up to 10240 x 4320, with HDMI 2.2 expected to push these limits further.
While the new spec seems to imply a necessity for a new cable, it's uncertain whether existing cables will suffice, highlighting differences similar to those in USB-C.
As HDMI continues evolving with its versions, the necessity of keeping pace with cables becomes crucial to fully utilize new features announced by the HDMI Forum.
