After facing a challenging start in the World Chess Championship, 18-year-old Gukesh Dommaraju made an impressive comeback, winning the third game against reigning champion Ding Liren, equalizing the match score.
Gukesh expressed satisfaction with his improved performance, stating, 'It feels great... I was happy with my play... today I just managed to outplay my opponent, which is always nice.'
Gukesh admitted to being nervous before the final but managed to calm down during play: 'I think I was playing some good chess and then I kind of flipped.'
As the youngest player to compete for the title, Gukesh aims to become the youngest undisputed World Chess Champion, surpassing Kasparov's record, with the competition continuing across 14 match days.
