Rapid Vienna confirmed Burgstaller was struck by an unidentified man and fell, injuring his head, in an incident that occurred in front of witnesses.
The club expressed concern for Burgstaller's well-being, stating he would spend days in the hospital and is likely to be sidelined for several months.
Rapid Vienna voiced hope that authorities would quickly apprehend the unidentified attacker responsible for Burgstaller's serious injuries.
