Girl (8) dies following fatal assault in house in New Ross, Wexford

Emergency services attended the scene at approximately 11.45pm, and despite immediate treatment at University Hospital Waterford, the eight-year-old tragically passed away from her injuries in the early hours of this morning. A man and woman in their thirties were also hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries, highlighting the severity of the incident.
The scene remains preserved for forensic examination, with the Coroner notified and the Garda Technical Bureau along with the Office of the State Pathologist involved in the investigation. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled to gather more information about the cause of death. A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed, and an incident room has been established at New Ross Garda Station.
