Steven Gerrard has left his managerial position at Al-Ettifaq after a disappointing 18 months, during which the club won only five of their 17 league matches and ranked perilously close to relegation. He initially joined in July 2023 and signed a two-year contract in early 2024, but his win rate stood at only 39% across 59 matches. This experience marks one of the least successful periods in his managerial career compared to his time at Rangers and Aston Villa. In a statement, Gerrard thanked the club and acknowledged his positive personal experience in Saudi Arabia.
"I want to express my gratitude to the club, the players, the fans, and everyone involved for the opportunity and the support during my time here."
"I express my gratitude to Mr. Samer and Mr. Hatim. From the first day, I was warmly welcomed, and I have enjoyed the chance to work in a new country with a different culture."
