"Democracy is threatened by divisions in society, by right-wing extremism and populists," said Habeck, highlighting the urgent need for unity and responsible leadership.
"Germany's answer to the growing strength of authoritarian regimes is not more nationalism...but an alliance of democrats in a European Union which is strong and in touch with its citizens," Habeck emphasized.
Despite the low polling at around 10-12%, the Greens are determined not to succumb to the temptation of despair, aiming for hopeful collaboration in the new election.
The party leaders expressed a desire to take responsibility even if it means coalition with conservatives, as they prepare for a challenging electoral battle ahead.
