Germany's new digital visa application platform, launched by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, aims to streamline access for work, study, and family reunification, addressing the deficit of skilled workers.
Baerbock emphasized the urgency of the reform, stating, 'Every year, Germany is short of at least 400,000 skilled workers... we cannot afford to put the best off coming here.'
Highlighting the modernization of the visa process, Baerbock remarked that the country needs 'a national visa process that is state-of-the-art, modern, digital, and secure' to compete in the global job market.
The digital portal allows applicants to select from 28 categories of national visa online, representing a significant administrative change to enhance user experience and efficiency.
