Two people died on the roads over the weekend - the first a horrific tragedy in which a young father died after losing control of his car before it ploughed through a ditch into a swollen river in Cork."

Since January 1, 184 people died on Irish roads, including drivers, pedestrians, passengers, motorcyclists, pedal cyclists, e-scooter users and a pillion passenger. Recent weekend deaths included a young father who died when his car entered a swollen river and a man in his 60s who died after a two-car collision.
