GAA to maintain Allianz sponsorship after recommendation from Ethics Committee
"The GAA has no legal basis to terminate its long running sponsorship partnership with Allianz over its investments, through a subsidiary, in the Israeli bond market, a meeting of the Association's Management Committee has heard this evening."
"It follows the presentation of a report by the recently established Ethics and Integrity Commission (EIC) this week which has recommended maintaining a sponsorship link dating back to 1993."
The GAA's Management Committee heard that there is no legal basis to terminate the long-running sponsorship partnership with Allianz despite concerns about Allianz's investments through a subsidiary in the Israeli bond market. A report from the recently established Ethics and Integrity Commission recommended maintaining the sponsorship link. The sponsorship relationship between the GAA and Allianz dates back to 1993. The Management Committee reviewed the EIC report when assessing the legal and ethical position and concluded that the EIC recommendation supports continuation of the existing commercial arrangement in the absence of legal grounds for termination.
