Funeral of Donegal man who died during Storm Amy hears he devoted much of his life to music and song
"He devoted much of his life to the sounds and the magic of song. He played many instruments and the chances are, if he had the opportunity, he would have learned how to play the trumpet too, like the angels. In death, life is not ended but changed. The music of heaven that awaits the faithful departed is there for Tommy too. This is our great hope as Christians," said Fr Hartnett."
"Let us pray that God will have mercy of Tommy's soul, since he was taken from us so suddenly. Let us pray that God will bring him quickly into his kingdom where trumpets sound and angels sing," said Fr Hartnett."
Tommy Connors, aged in his 40s and resident of Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny, died on Friday, October 3 after falling from a shed roof at a domestic property during Storm Amy. The incident occurred around 4.15pm while Donegal was under a Status Red weather warning. Family, friends and community members attended his funeral Mass at St Eunan's Cathedral, where a white coffin was placed alongside photographs, a tractor-shaped wreath and floral tributes. Fr Anthony Hartnett led the service, recalled Connors' devotion to music and urged prayer, memory sharing and mutual support for the bereaved.
