The National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) is coordinating restoration efforts amid harsh weather conditions, with warnings issued for strong winds, rain, and potential flooding. Recovering electricity and water services may take several days, with officials emphasizing their commitment to restore essential services as quickly as possible, despite the expected severe weather challenges ahead.
More than 400,000 homes, farms and businesses were without power due to the unprecedented devastation of Storm Éowyn, which made recovery efforts challenging.
NECG chair Keith Leonard stated that some customers could be waiting until the second half of this week to be reconnected due to the severity of the impacts.
