"Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) have pleaded with motorists to drive with care amid fears the treacherous travelling conditions could cause traffic chaos as thousands return to work and school after the Christmas and New Year holidays. The warning comes as forecasters issue a fresh warning on Monday morning, declaring a snow/ice warning for counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. The Status Yellow warning will be in effect from 11am Monday, until 9am Tuesday morning."
"Met Éireann has also issued another Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning for the remainder of the country (Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Munster, Galway, Roscommon) which will also be in effect from 11am on Monday until 9am on Tuesday. These warnings will replace the set of weather warnings in effect until 11am. Forecasters say they expect temperatures to fall to between -1 and -3 degrees generally, as well as sharp frost, icy stretches and black ice."
