France brings in new rules for snow tyres for winter 2024
Briefly

Starting November 1, 2024, the Loi Montagne will impose stricter rules requiring specific winter tires marked '3PMSF' and enforcing fines for non-compliance.
While the Loi Montagne has been enforced since 2023, a grace period was granted, but from November 1, 2024, drivers must adapt to the new regulations strictly.
Previously accepted tyre markings like 'M+S', 'M.S', or 'M&S' will no longer suffice, compelling drivers to either upgrade tires or use chains.
This law affects 34 of France's 96 mainland departments, with local authorities determining the specific roads affected by the winter driving requirements.
