Former driving instructor reveals the two biggest reasons for failing your test
Briefly

Anthony Doran of ADM Driving School emphasizes that all driving test centers are equivalent in difficulty and that thorough preparation is crucial. He identifies positioning and observation as critical components where learners often struggle, particularly with the reverse around a corner maneuver. Doran believes that while the current driving test is high-standard and fair, the inclusion of additional maneuvers such as parallel parking would enhance its effectiveness. He highlights that many candidates fail due to lack of practice or specific skills rather than the test center's nature.
I think the ability to drive in a straight line is one of the most important skills, meaning your position on the road, which is also crucial for taking turns.
But if you can't move off from a parked position correctly, reverse around a corner properly, or turn correctly, then you will probably fail your test, regardless of the test centre.
The majority of people who don't pass the test are either not prepared properly or need to improve their driving in specific areas, so I do think the test is fair in Ireland.
