Ian Barnes was elected as a ward councillor for the Jubilee ward in a by-election on Thursday (November 28) after receiving 853 votes from a turnout of 21.12%.
I am delighted to be elected an Enfield Councillor once again, and I want to thank the residents of Jubilee who have put their faith in me. On their behalf, I will be fighting for fairer funding for Enfield and tackling the issues that matter to them.
The by-election was triggered when Enfield Council leader and Jubilee councillor Nesil Caliskan resigned to become a Labour MP for Barking.
Cllr Barnes was representative for Winchmore Hill and deputy leader in Enfield between 2019 and 2022, and was one of three shortlisted contenders for the Coventry East constituency ahead of July's General Election.
