Poor communication and high fines associated with France's new flux libre toll system have raised concerns, particularly affecting foreign drivers who may miss essential updates about the new payment method.
With the gradual rollout of the flux libre tolls aimed at reducing traffic jams, drivers are expected to adapt to a system where only registration plate recognition and later online payment will be necessary.
The stark fines for late payments, which can reach up to 750 euros, have led to complaints from motorists who argue the system's implementation lacks clarity, especially for those unfamiliar with the regulations.
Joselito Bellet, director at Sanef, emphasized that the licensing recognition technology is designed without bias, ensuring equitable processing for both French and foreign drivers despite any communication barriers.
