First BEAD Funding Announced: Here Are the Louisiana Awardees!
Briefly

" Veneeth Iyengar, executive director for ConnectLA, mentioned that the $1.355 billion in BEAD rural broadband funding will ensure broadband access for all eligible unserved and underserved locations, with about 95% to 96% expected to receive fiber broadband. This plan not only emphasizes deployment but also leaves approximately $500 million for other connectivity purposes, thereby facilitating further enhancements in broadband infrastructure across the state. "
" Iyengar revealed that 33 providers qualified to apply for funding under the BEAD program, out of which 20 will be awarded funding. Major companies like AT&T, Brightspeed, Charter, Comcast, and Cox are among those selected, although local and regional providers received a substantial portion of the awards. Particularly, the Louisiana Local Fiber Consortium and Conexon Connect showcase the significance of local initiatives in bridging the connectivity gap. "
