Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe said he will not go beyond the €1.5bn available for tax measures in the upcoming Budget. He told TDs there are many competing demands on the tax end of Budget 2026. He said a number of tax credits need to be extended. He said those extensions must be accommodated alongside other demands and needs identified by the department. The €1.5bn ceiling defines the maximum fiscal room for tax policy changes in Budget 2026. Allocations within that envelope will require prioritisation and trade-offs among credits and other tax interventions.
