"This is a clear violation of FEMA's core values and principles to help people regardless of their political affiliation," FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said in a statement. "This was reprehensible."
Criswell emphasized, "I want to be clear to all of my employees and the American people, this type of behavior and action will not be tolerated at FEMA and we will hold people accountable if they violate these standards of conduct."
The incident occurred in Lake Placid, Florida, where a supervisor urged their team to 'avoid homes advertising Trump' while canvassing for Hurricane Milton aid. This led to at least 20 homes being skipped.
The matter has been referred to the special counsel's office for further investigation, highlighting the importance of accountability within FEMA's operations to prevent any future misconduct.
