As chaos erupted in the stands, play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy noted the unusual occurrence. Security intervened swiftly to manage the situation. Upon resuming, the Billikens held on for a 78-69 win, with standout performances from Gibson Jimerson, who scored 26 points, and Kobe Johnson, who added 19, thus ending VCU's six-game winning streak.
