He acknowledged fans' strong emotions about events in the Middle East and referenced the Israel-Hamas conflict's heavy toll. He said organisers hear and care about fans' concerns, recalled Eurovision's origins as a post-war contest of unity, and expressed hope the contest remains a place where friendships form and new artists are discovered. He stated organisers respect the positions of Spain, Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands and Slovenia, warned rules must be followed, and said he would not tolerate rule-breaking.
