"largest ever operation"
"massive blow"
"These precursors were legal, generally used in the pharmaceutical industry,"
"I think this is genuinely a massive blow to organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking, specifically of synthetic drugs,"
Europol coordinated a multinational operation led from Poland that dismantled 24 industrial-scale laboratories and identified 50 delivery and 16 storage locations tied to synthetic drug production. Authorities seized roughly 1,000 metric tons of precursor chemicals used to make MDMA and methamphetamine, more than 800 kilograms of synthetic drugs in Germany, and about 160,000 liters of toxic chemical waste. Polish investigators traced large imports of legal pharmaceutical chemicals from China and India that were repackaged, mislabeled and redistributed across the European Union to clandestine labs. More than 85 suspects were arrested across multiple countries, including two Poles identified as possible ringleaders.
