Musk's legal representatives assert that he originally leased the office at the Mission district while employed at OpenAI and has been responsible for the bills since.
Despite Musk's broader intention to move companies to Texas, there are indications that xAI may remain operationally tied to the Mission district in San Francisco.
At an open house held shortly after OpenAI's DevDay, xAI team members indicated that their primary focus would continue to be on their Palo Alto office, despite this new space.
