Elon Musk's Nazi salute at Donald Trump's inauguration has ignited a significant debate, particularly with his daughter, Vivian Wilson, openly denouncing the act on social media. While many media outlets downplayed the gesture, calling it an 'awkward moment' or a 'controversial hand gesture', Wilson insisted on acknowledging its true nature. She highlighted the absurdity of those defending Musk's actions by framing them as symbols of love or Roman salutes, which do not exist historically. Her passionate comments underscore the troubling tendency of media to sanitize or excuse such actions, igniting discussions on accountability and interpretation.
I'm just gonna say let's call a spade a fucking spade. Especially if there were two spades done in succession based on the reaction of the first spade.
Even the Anti-Defamation League referred to the widely-known Nazi greeting as an 'awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute,' while other outlets referred to it as simply a 'controversial hand gesture.'
I don't know why y'all are reacting with such vigor, I'm clearly only talking about card suits; this was CLEARLY just an accident that people happened to interpret to mean something other than just card suits.
Some have attempted to defend Musk's Nazi salute by claiming he intended for the gesture to be something else, with excuses claiming he intended it as a symbol of love.
