During a videocall at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Elon Musk advocated for deleting entire federal agencies, arguing for a reduction in bureaucracy under the Trump administration. He highlighted the detrimental effects of bureaucratic rule on democracy and suggested that removing the 'roots of the weed' would prevent its regrowth. Musk's comments were influenced by his newly assigned role in the Department of Government Efficiency and reflected an isolationist stance on U.S. involvement in the Middle East. His remarks sparked discussions on the limits of presidential authority and significant governmental restructuring.
"We really have here rule of the bureaucracy as opposed to rule of the people - democracy," Musk said.
"If we don't remove the roots of the weed, then it's easy for the weed to grow back," Musk stated.
Musk's remarks also offered a more-isolationist view of American power in the Middle East, where the U.S. has fought wars in both Afghanistan and Iraq since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
"I think we do need to delete entire agencies as opposed to leave a lot of them behind," Musk said.
