EasyJet is set to operate a new summer route from Bordeaux to Edinburgh, flying twice a week from June to August. This service comes after Ryanair suspended its flights from Bordeaux to Edinburgh in October 2024 due to disputes over airport fees, impacting local airport traffic significantly. Bordeaux airport's management is actively working to restore routes formerly handled by Ryanair, which controlled about 25% of the airport's operations. The airport aims for a full recovery from Ryanair's exit within two years, emphasizing the importance of maintaining British connections.
The British market is still extremely important for Bordeaux, and we are trying to offer as many destinations to the UK as possible.
In the short term, we are focusing on recovering the destinations previously served by Ryanair, though potentially not at the same volume.
