Walt Disney World will suspend operations due to Hurricane Milton, emphasizing safety for guests and staff. The park highlights this rare closure, with only nine in its history.
In a statement, Disney said, "Please know these adjustments have been made to leave plenty of time for our Guests and Cast Members to return to their Resort hotels or homes safely hours before higher winds are expected to reach Central Florida."
Hurricane Milton's classification has fluctuated, initially a Category 5 storm which posed significant risks. The National Hurricane Center warned of Milton as being "extremely dangerous".
Historically, Disney World has rarely closed for hurricanes, with the most recent shut down due to Hurricane Nicole in 2022. They prioritized safety with a prompt response to Milton.
