Design for Maryland's new Key Bridge unveiled, 10 months after tragic collapse
Briefly

Maryland Governor Wes Moore is set to reveal the new design for the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship on March 26, 2024. The accident tragically resulted in the deaths of six workers, affecting traffic and operations in Baltimore and impacting local businesses reliant on the bridge for commutes. The Port of Baltimore faced disruptions, shutting down cargo operations until June. Local businesses have suffered revenue losses, leading to initiatives for support, while federal funding was approved for reconstruction efforts.
Some small businesses saw dips in revenue after the collapse. Owner of Anchor Bay Marina and Hard Yacht Cafe, Alex DelSordo said they lost 9% of their revenue and some employees have been forced to quit their jobs because their commute is upwards of 90 minutes per day.
And now that we're 10 months after the fact, we're seeing it every single day, the impact it makes on the employees and also the customer.
