James Morrissey, a communications consultant who acted as a spokesman for businessman Denis O'Brien, gave evidence to a High Court jury on the fourth day of proceedings. Morrissey confirmed he issued a press release on behalf of Denis O'Brien that has been described as allegedly defamatory. Morrissey told the jury that he stands over "every word" of the statement. The defamation action has been brought against both Morrissey and O'Brien by solicitors Darragh Mackin and Gavin Booth. The case is proceeding in the High Court with Morrissey testifying in his defence.
