Democrats are urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to release the second volume of the special counsel’s report on Trump’s classified documents retention, emphasizing the need for transparency.
Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, asserted that it is in the public interest for the Department of Justice to expeditiously release the report to reveal Donald Trump's alleged lawlessness.
The second volume of the report is currently withheld under a federal judge's order due to concerns that its release could prejudice the cases of Trump's co-defendants.
The report is believed to contain critical insights about Trump’s attempts to conceal sensitive national security documents, which were recovered by the FBI in 2022 after a search.
