Danish prime minister says a US takeover of Greenland would mark the end of NATO
"If the United States chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops. That is, including our NATO and thus the security that has been provided since the end of the Second World War."
"let's talk about Greenland in 20 days,"
"We will not accept a situation where we and Greenland are threatened in this way,"
U.S. calls for control of Greenland resurfaced following a U.S. military operation in Venezuela. Greenland is a semiautonomous territory of the Danish kingdom and part of NATO. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that a U.S. military attack on a NATO country would halt NATO and erase post–World War II security guarantees. President Donald Trump has repeatedly sought U.S. jurisdiction over Greenland and has not ruled out military force, saying "let's talk about Greenland in 20 days." Greenlandic Premier Jens Frederik Nielsen rejected comparisons with Venezuela, urged calm and unity, and European leaders expressed solidarity with Denmark and Greenland.
