"The facility will provide a comfortable and safe space on an elevated platform for the community to view aircraft movements," the DAA told the council.
"Aircraft observation facilities are a feature of many airports around Europe and the world," the DAA noted in its planning application.
Despite extensive pre-planning interaction between the DAA and planners, Fingal County Council said weeks after the formal application had been received, that it was "disappointing" that no toilets were included in the proposal.
...the council insisted that electric vehicle charging points be installed by the DAA if the viewing platform goes ahead.
