Bertha Dantant was arrested for leaving the scene of a car crash on Long Island that critically injured cyclist James Lantero. Dantant was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry when it struck Lantero as he was making a turn. Lantero, 51, was critically injured and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. Dantant, 49, faces charges for leaving the scene, and the vehicle involved was impounded. She was held overnight and subsequently arraigned in court.
Bertha Dantant was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry westbound on Irving Avenue in Wyandanch when the vehicle struck a bicyclist heading northbound on Lewis Street.
The cyclist, James Lantero, 51, of Ronkonkoma, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in critical condition.
Dantant, 49, of Wyandanch, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in serious physical injury, and the Toyota was impounded.
She was held overnight at the First Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
