CVT to Bring Gig Fiber Broadband to Remote Communities in Alaska
Briefly

Copper Valley Telecom (CVT) is set to enhance broadband connectivity in the Alaskan village of Tatitlek, deploying a $16.5 million gigabit fiber project funded by the USDA.
The new fiber service will significantly improve internet speeds, upgrading from a previous 25 Mbps download to a symmetrical 1 Gbps download and upload capability for the residents.
Thomas Lochner highlighted the pressing need for improved broadband access, revealing that Alaska has over 20,000 underserved locations and nearly 38,000 unserved locations.
By connecting remote communities through more reliable fiber optics instead of outdated microwave networks, CVT aims to ensure better connectivity where it’s most needed.
