Lalbaz Safi, owner of Mobile and Vape, was found guilty of selling a vape to a child and fined a total of £4,792 for multiple offences, including selling non-compliant vapes and hair products.
The offences were uncovered during a test purchasing exercise, which revealed not only the sale to a minor, but also the presence of 104 non-compliant vapes and 93 hair dye products.
District Judge highlighted that the underage sale was the most serious offence and criticized the lack of safeguards to prevent underage purchases in the shop.
Jason Perry, Croydon’s executive mayor, stated, 'Our trading standards team is the best in London… we will continue to take enforcement action where traders breach their legal duties.'
