Weed science consultant John Cussans warned that the resistance of Italian ryegrass to glyphosate could be 'massively consequential' for farmers. He described the potential need to mechanically remove weeds, which would adversely affect soil health and may result in farmers losing environmentally beneficial farming subsidies.
