"I just burst into tears, and Lyde laughed and said, 'Well, there's only one more. What difference is it going to make?'"
"For the whole pregnancy, we were talking about names, and we were struggling with one name, let alone four,"
"The first night that I was admitted, I said to Lyde, 'I think we need to just think about names now and just agree on something because when the babies come, we're not going to have time to sit here thinking of names,"
"Every time we looked at the list, we kept veering toward the 'X' names."
Jodie Keeley and partner Lyde Darien learned at an early anatomy scan that they were carrying triplets, then discovered they were expecting quadruplets. The babies were born at John Radcliffe Hospital on May 22, 2025, just shy of 26 weeks gestation and with a combined birth weight of 5 pounds, 11 ounces. After setbacks, the four infants remained in the NICU for nearly five months and went home in mid-October. Keeley was hospitalized at 24 weeks and the couple scrambled to choose four matching names that echoed Darien's older daughters; they selected coordinated "X" names.
