Community mourns 'loving and affectionate' girl, 6, who died after falling into frozen pond in Norton
Briefly

Josephine "Josie" Pinto, a 6-year-old girl, died after drowning in a partially frozen pond close to her Norton home. Loved by her family, she was known for her affection and enthusiasm for education and activities. Diagnosed with autism, Josie and her twin sister had access to tailored resources thanks to their mother's experience in special education. Despite efforts to keep them safe, Josie inadvertently escaped their home, drawn to the pond. Following extensive search efforts, she was found and later pronounced dead at the hospital. A vigil was held to honor her memory.
Both sisters were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder before their 3rd birthday and, with Sweeney's 21 years of special education experience, were able to access all the necessary resources available to them.
Josie was a loving and affectionate child who enjoyed puzzles, climbing, swinging in the backyard, and watching her favorite movie, 'Frozen', multiple times a day.
