Met Éireann is forecasting mild but largely dull conditions for the festive period, with just showers of rain expected on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Christmas Day will be mild and quite cloudy, though some brighter breaks will develop, with most places remaining dry but experiencing some patches of light rain.
There will be a 'good deal' of dry weather for the rest of Christmas week, though scattered patches of light rain and drizzle are anticipated.
Thursday (St Stephen's Day) will be another cloudy day with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, particularly in the west and north.
