Child treated for injuries after fire breaks out at Waterford hotel
"On arrival, a small fire which had been extinguished, was found in a bedroom. Residents had already evacuated. One casualty was handed over into the care of the National Ambulance Service and the building made safe."
"Conditions were difficult and extra manpower was needed so (as) not to exhaust firefighters, so we augmented our response with help from Tramore and Dunmore Retained crews."
"Without stating the obvious the aim with attending domestic fires is to minimise fire damage and fire spread in a property so both external firefighting and internal firefighting took place with the help of our turntable ladder for that aerial advantage," said a spokesperson for the Waterford City Fire Service."
Brigade units from Tramore, Dunmore East and Waterford city responded to a fire at the Sands Hotel, Tramore at 10:17pm on February 2. Firefighters found a small bedroom fire that had already been extinguished and confirmed residents had evacuated. One casualty, a male infant, was handed to the National Ambulance Service and conveyed to University Hospital Waterford with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. GardaĆ do not suspect foul play. Brigade operations ceased around 10:20pm. Separately, Green Watch and Waterford City retained crews attended a difficult domestic fire requiring augmented support and aerial assistance to limit spread and damage.
