On arrival, a small fire which had been extinguished, was found in a bedroom. Residents had already evacuated. One casualty was handed over into the care of the National Ambulance Service and the building made safe.
Alan Walsh, in his 40s, was riding the e-scooter when it was involved in the crash at the junction of Manor Hill and Hennessy's Road in Waterford City at about 11 am on Christmas Day. He was taken to University Hospital Waterford where he died. His funeral mass is to be held on January 3 at the Sacred Heart Church in Waterford.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene during the incident and subsequently detained at a Garda station within the Waterford-Kilkenny Division under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
