UPS SurePost packages, which were previously delivered through the Postal Service, are now solely handled by UPS following the expiration of their contract, causing confusion among customers.
Debbie Anday from Stash Spot Mailbox Services highlighted how the shift has bewildered customers, stating, 'Our customers are very confused about where it goes,' reflecting the disruption in delivery processes.
Richard Hooker from Teamsters Local 623 explained that UPS workers are overwhelmed but noted, 'we are overloaded, which is a good thing and a bad thing,' indicating the complex impact of this change.
The expiration of the SurePost contract means that UPS packages now need to be delivered to physical addresses, as the Postal Service can only handle deliveries to P.O. Boxes.
