In response to a series of violent incidents in Carshalton, including an armed standoff and a stabbing, Vellum Mill Gallery has opened its doors to provide a safe haven for concerned schoolchildren. Emma James and her artist husband, Stuart, are offering support to children who may feel anxious while walking home. The gallery will assist in making phone calls home and is encouraging children to step in if they’re in need of help. The initiative aims to reassure parents and children alike during this distressing time.
As parents, we understand the fear that children may feel walking home after recent events. Our gallery is open for them as a safe haven.
If they are worried or scared, our doors are always open. We’ll ensure they get home safely, and we are here for any support needed.
We want to reassure the community that during these troubling times, Vellum Mill Gallery will always be a safe space for schoolchildren.
Please let your children know they can come to us if they’re feeling afraid. Our priority is their safety and well-being.
