The Joan of Arc Parade, which began in 2008 and falls on the French hero's birthday, marks the end of the Christmas season and the arrival of Carnival.
Antoinette de Alteriis, a captain of the Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc, stated, 'We are celebrating life. We are choosing hope and we are choosing joy.'
Life Sacco, who served as Joan of Arc in the parade, expressed, 'The weight of the parade... is not lost upon me. Courage, endurance, and hope are what the city needs.'
After a violent New Year's Day attack, organizers aimed to convey the city's spirit, suggesting that the parade could help lift the community's spirits during this emotional time.
