An Ontario man, Shenghua Wen, was arrested for allegedly smuggling military equipment to North Korea, believing it would help prepare for an attack against South Korea.
Wen confessed to U.S. officials that he was chosen to procure weapons for North Korea because he was 'good at smuggling', having previously met officials from the North.
Wen received approximately $2 million from North Korean officials to fund the purchase of military firearms, with at least two shipments successfully sent to the country.
Authorities confiscated several military items from Wen's residence, including a chemical threat identification device and a substantial quantity of ammunition, as part of the investigation.
