The National Crime Agency recently sentenced three men who operated OTP Agency, an account takeover service. The operation unraveled in 2021 when the group's activities were mentioned in an investigative report by Brian Krebs. As the Telegram group gained considerable traction, boasting over 2,200 members, panic ensued among its founders, as captured in a series of deleted chat messages. Arrested in March 2021, the trio pleaded guilty to their roles, demonstrating the effectiveness of their basic gateway tools in bypassing security measures for telecom and banking accounts.
"Bro we are in big trouble," said Callum Picari, evidencing the panic among the OTP Agency founders following exposure in a fraud investigation.
The NCA revealed that the fraudsters' Telegram group boasted over 2,200 members, showcasing the extensive reach their account takeover services had.
